The Morning Sun – by composer Brock Hewitt

Soundcloud strikes again! I fell in love with this track first thing this morning and have been playing it on repeat ever since. To hear the track for yourself, simply click the orange ‘play’ button below:

The Morning Sun – a track from ‘Stories in Sound’ by composer Brock Hewitt

If you want to place Soundcloud tracks in your posts, ignore the confusing instructions about embedding etc and just start a new paragraph [in block editor]. Next, copy the URL shown under the Share option in Soundcloud. It’ll look something like this:

To copy the URL [web address] circled in red above, simply click inside the address box. The whole URL will be highlighted in blue.

Now, press the CTRL C keys on your keyboard [this will ‘copy’ the URL to your Clipboard].

Finally, go back into your WordPress post, click inside a new paragraph and press the CTRL V keys on your keyboard [this will copy the URL from your Clipboard into WordPress.

Note: these two keyboard shortcuts will work on any computer running a Windows operating system – e.g. Windows 7 or 10 etc.

After WordPress does its magic, you should see the track displayed with the background image and the Play button. Click Play and away you go!

Hope you like this track as much as I do.

cheers

Glorious music!

Apologies for overloading you with music today, but I’ve just discovered Daniel Beijbom, a Swedish composer, and I’m in love!

cheers [again],

The Piano Guys in #Petra

This video clip by the Piano Guys has special significance to me because a part of Innerscape is set in Petra…and this is the closest I’ll probably ever come to actually seeing it for myself.

Petra is located in Jordan and is one of the wonders of the ancient world. Carved out of the living rock, it was once the centre of a thriving trade between East, Middle and West. The trade vanished a very long time ago but the city lives on.

While you’re watching the video clip, please say a little prayer for the pianist, if that’s your style. His daughter went missing very recently and hope has faded. I fear there won’t be another video clip for a while. 😦

cheers

#SwanDive – by Michael Halaas

I was working on Innerscape and listening to SoundCloud today when a new piece of music caught my attention. That wasn’t this, but it did lead to this:

The track is called Swan Dive and is basically a duet for piano and cello, two of my favourite instruments. The composer and pianist is Michael Halaas, and I think the cellist is Joan Jenreaud, simply because she features on two of his other tracks.

Michael Halaas’ music is very different to that of The Piano Guys, but if you like them I think you might also like him. Halaas’ music is not quite as polished, but it is beautiful and quite original.

I do have another reason for featuring Halaas’ video clip today – musicians are like Indie writers, no matter how good they are, they will never make it unless they become visible…okay, audible. This guy doesn’t seem to do much in the way of marketing, so I thought I’d give him a hand. Yes, yes, I know…the blind leading the blind, but it’s the thought that counts. Right? 🙂

cheers
