In between harvesting strawberries and making passata from our homegrown tomatoes, I’ve been making another Tukti. This is the first one I made:

This is the new one:

And the reason I made a new one is that I’ve discovered Rebubble, a print-on-demand company for things rather than books. š
As with Amazon, you provide the design, and Redbubble does the rest. I’m not sure if any of my designs will appeal to buyers, but there is at least the potential of turning my graphics into a passive income.
I can’t show you any of my ‘products’ yet, but I will say that the Tukti look great on socks! I figured if nothing else, I’d buy Tukti socks for winter and become a walking advertisement. š
Ok, enough fun. Time to harvest some more tomatoes.
cheers,
Meeks

When I first read your note I thought, a Tukti in physical form — 3D printed.
Which I think you could do next.

lmao – I’d love to…if I had the money to buy a 3D printer and IF I had the energy to learn yet another piece of tech. I assume the Tukti model would have to be converted to a 3D one for the printer to produce a physical model?

A quick search shows lots of options for 2d -> 3d. You’ve got your map all designed — gameboard time?

I’ve a few artist pals who use that platform. And Spoonflower. You really ought to investigate Spoonflower š

I love the one smelling the flowers, especially! By the way, Meeks, I reviewed VOKHTAH, and it’s up on my blog as well as on Amazon for you. š Such an amazing book!

p.s. just read your review and I absolutely loved it. Vokhtah is the least accessible story I’ve ever written and yet, I think it’s also the best thing I’ve ever written. Every brave soul who ventures to the end of the book is a hero to me. Thank you so very much. -hugs-

Oh they are! It’s just the spider-ish connection. Or maybe not spiders as they have 8 legs don’t they?

Spiders don’t freak me and yes they do have 8 legs…although the camel spider has 10…

10 legs? Wow…I had no idea. Just for fun I looked up Daddylonglegs [part of the inspiration for Tukti] and learned that they’re not a true spider. Yay! lol

What I love about these desgns is that they look like they could actually physiologically/boilogically exist, in terms of the body being able to sustain its own weight, and not overbalance. š (which is my pet peeve about centaurs – they’re so front heavy – the whole upright torso being directly above and in front of the front legs – they’d go arse-over-teakettle the minute they tried to move)

lmao – I never thought of it in those terms but…yes!!!!! Bodies have to ‘work’ in the same way technology has to work. Thank you. You’ve made me smile this morning!

-grin- oh I love that. I like socks too, but mine are all basic black so I don’t have to worry about pairing them up after the wash. I guess with distinct designs, that wouldn’t be an issue…hmm…. We could be on to something. š

Not sure if you’ve signed up with Red Bubble yet, and it may be the only option in your area, but you might also want to check Zazzle which does similar things. My brother has sold items on both, but gave up Red Bubble because in the US their items had to be priced much higher and were therefore more difficult to sell. Also the terms for payments to the artists are different, so it would be good to study up on them before making too large of an online store at either of them.
I’ve ordered many items through both and love what I get. I especially love custom mugs and stickers and I’ve given away both with images related to my books at book launches.

Thanks, Sheri. I’ve actually bought a couple of things from Zazzle but I didn’t realise they did much the same thing. I basically went with Redbubble because it was started right here in Melbourne. lol Home town pride, I guess. I will check out other options as well though. I think I read somewhere that Spotify does something similar as well?

I liked the quality of Redbubble. I didn’t know it started in Melbourne, though I knew it was very big in the UK. Enjoy the lovely creations you make there. It’s such fun to have goods with custom designs. We make stickers with our NaNoWriMo mascot every year for regional participants, I have custom t-shirts, shopping bags, travel mugs and even a pillow. Oh, and my brother made a shower curtain for us with one of his beautiful photographs from the Washington coast. Nearly no end to the possibilities. š

That’s very kind. I’m not on Redbubble. I have a few things on Zazzle but mostly just sign in to make custom items for my writers group or book promotion events rather than put them up for sale. Thank you so much for the offer!

Thank you! The Offspring and I sat down to brainstorm biology >> visuals some years ago. I provided the biology and the concept of them being ‘nice’. The Offspring came up with the idea of fusing big-eyed heads with archnid type bodies. Neither one of us likes spiders but…the Tukti are something else. š
