I’ve been fascinated by the idea of Tiny Houses for years, but this one literally blew my mind:
I’m not sure I’m tidy enough to live in such a…neat…space, but I totally fell in love with the aesthetics of it.
Still smiling,
Meeks

It kind of reminds me of when we played at house as kids? There’s something magical about it, but yes, I’d feel a bit hemmed in too. Would be great to go travelling in though.

Yes, come to think of it … it does! Yes, it would be great for cross-country trips or even weekend camping trips. But to live in full-time … well, maybe … π€

I love tiny houses, too, and van houses. I just watched NOMADLAND and now I’m reading it; it’s about camper life as lived by people who couldn’t afford housing anymore. I recommend the film and the book highly.

A lot of Aussie seniors seem to become ‘grey nomads’, but it never occurred to me until just now that some/many may have no other choice. Thanks for the tip.

I fell in love with the film … seen it more than a few times. We’re seeing more and more people here who are living in RV’s, because the insane price of housing is just making it impossible for even those who would’ve been called ‘middle income’, a few years ago, to afford one, let alone the huge majority of people who are living paycheque-to-paycheque, or worse.

To be honest, I could almost go nomad myself. Almost. I’m just not tidy enough! But I can understand how it would make life so much easier, not having to worry about money all the time.
Are you and Mrs Widds considering staying in your camper van for good-ish?

Funny you should ask that … I’m posting Part 4 this evening. π

Hi Robbie. π I love her little windows. The inner facade obviously cost more and probably wasn’t ‘necessary’ in a functional sense but…absolutely vital in an aesthetic one. π

Oh Robbie, this video trailer is fabulous! I think that tune is going to stick in my head forever too. π
The only thing I’d say is make the ending a wee bit longer so people have a chance to really see the credits, and hopefully subscribe.
I think you’ve done a superb job. Liked and subscribed. π π

Oh yes! I am not sure about the full time living, but it would be perfect as an alternative to a caravan for a single woman (or man). So many ingenious, simple solutions. The time she spent was well worth it . I think the real appeal is the warmth of all the wood; most caravans are laminate and hard surfaces.

Yes! Now that you mention it, the wood is definitely what gives it that cosy feeling [rather than cramped]. Like being in a cocoon. π

I could never live this way, but I’m fascinated by those that can. The van is deceptively spacious. I’m sure one has to be super-efficient with each square foot of space.

As she said, it’s not quite so wonderful when it rains. Actually we’ve had a lot of rain here in Melbourne, and up north too, so I couldn’t help wondering how she coped. And yes, the more spaces she opened the more astounded I became. Not an inch of waste space anywhere.

I lived in something similar (sans the bathroom) for several years. With two foster kids. Rain doesn’t bother kids, but it does steam up the inside!

That really is a neat camper. Clearly well thought through! When I was a teenager my parents bought a VW van for camping. There was definitely a knack to camping in it when the whole family went on holiday, but it well suited my parents after I and my siblings had left home – Dad had retired and they often went on camping tours of many weeks at a time. This was way before ‘tiny living’ was a thing.

-grin- My parent never owned a car much less a camper, so I never developed a love of camping per se. I did always love the idea of a gypsy caravan though. This one is soooo much better. lol

IF they fix the ME/CFS (so I have the energy to heal), and I get the back problems dealt with so I can walk, I would love this version of the Tiny House because I could drive it myself.
Others give you more space – but this is very movable by a single human.
I just crave being able to walk.

Fervently hope so. I’m so tired of being tired after more than three decades of this nonsense – and no research. Now it’s legitimate because they can’t ignore this many new people. Before, we were whiners. Now, we’re the canaries in the many coal mines.

I remember so vividly how all those with stomach ulcers due to H. pilori felt when their illness was proved to be caused by the bacterium AND they could finally get CURED instead of having treatment forever for ‘acid reflux’ – always so vague. An Australian did that; you got any more of that kind of researcher?
Ditto, when HIV became no longer a horrible death sentence.
Just getting impatient – and not just for me, but for all the new people with this new virus ruining their lives. I have hope and faith – just don’t know how long the wait will be.

Yes, an Aussie made the connection between stomach ulcers and H.pilori. He went through hell from the establishment too. Oddly enough, we do have a lot of lateral thinkers here, maybe because there’s a strong anti-authoritarian thread running through our culture. Don’t know of anyone working CFS though, but give it time!
And yes, I know time is the big problem. Fingers crossed for everyone.

More time unfortunately means more time suffering, more time feeling crappy, more time not being able to do things – and more time listening to people who tell you they think your problem is that you have a bad attitude.
