Rather than posting the complete video of this song, I’m posting a vocal coach’s reaction to it.

I really like these “reaction” videos, especially when they’re dramatic. Amazing voice! Thanks for introducing me to another new artist!

-grin- I know! lol And don’t thank me. I would never have given Jinjer a go if not for Matthew. Who’d a thunk an eminent historian would like heavy metal?

Pretty amazing – I don’t usually watch any of this – except that when I do I find such immense expertise in people who know what they’re doing and talking about. Both the singer and the coach were a revelation. Thanks.
The previous one I watched was an expert commentary of a Celine Dion performance – and I can’t find where I stored the link, darn it – a young man did an incredible analysis of, I think, All by myself, basically sung with her whole body.

I agree, Alicia. I didn’t /enjoy/ hearing that growl, but the level of control and the analysis of how that control was achieved, simply blew me away.
If you find that link I’d like to see it as I quite like Celine Dion. 🙂

Found it! ‘The most elegant key change in all of pop music,’ Adam Neely, on Youtube:
I knew I had to have saved it, but it doesn’t have her name in it anywhere, and Youtube’s stupid system with its random strings is useless for searching.

I never watch these long videos – but I loved every minute. Felt like a Master Class.

Oh. My. God….. I’d never heard her sing that song before and that key change made the every hair on my body stand up!
I remember just enough music theory to enjoy the explanation, and to appreciate that incredible note even more.
THANK YOU!!!!!

She’s famous for many reasons – that video made me appreciate her all the more, even though I’m not a particular fan, nor will I ever get to see her in person. Re just enough music theory: me, too, which is why I kept watching.

I know these comments are supposed to be for this post, but you disabled them on the video of Miira and Jaimie at Osaka Castle. Oh my I loved that! To see them after reading them. Great video editor.

Oh!!!!! Thank you. 😀 😀 I disabled comments as I thought most people wouldn’t be interested. I didn’t want my friends to feel that they /had/ to comment. Gah. I’ll shut up now.
The program I used is called Plotagon. It basically allows you to create characters with what I think of as ’emotes’. I’m used to them in MMO’s so it was a natural progression to string them together to tell a story. 🙂

That makes a lot of sense, Meeka–absolutely agree. Crazy people like me will find a way to reach out anyway! Really, that was a lot of fun to see these characters. Thank you! I know that was a lot of work. You should add that video to the Amazon Author page.

Isn’t it amazing? When I first heard that voice, I thought it was some kind of post production thing, a gimmick. Still find it hard to believe that much control is possible.

I confess, until the vocal coach actually made the same sound by way of example, I still didn’t quite believe it!
lol – watching her snort into her tea was priceless. 😀
