This should be a must-watch video for every Australian because Australia is the driest continent on Earth, and water is life, our life:
Illegal harvesting of flood plain water in the northern part of the country is killing off the food production located in the south. And who benefits? A few very rich individuals and some multinationals that play with our water as if it were the stock market:

I knew some of this from the Four Corners report that aired in 2017:
https://www.abc.net.au/4corners/pumped/8727826
But Four Corners had to be a little…circumspect. The people in the Friendly Jordie documentary pull no punches. Our water is being stolen to enrich a few people and organisations. The theft of our water is being facilitated by politicians in the National Party, which is part of the Coalition currently in charge of politics at the national level.
Think this only affects a few small communities in the back of whoop whoop? Wrong. All of us city people will be affected too…when food becomes more and more expensive. By then though, it will be much too late.
Please! Watch this video and pass it on to others. The corruption has to be stopped, and we’re the only ones who can ultimately stop it.
My thanks to @RonniSalt from Twitter for pointing me at this Friendly Jordies video.
Cheers
Meeks

We just have no idea of all the ways we the people are being screwed.

Nope. No idea at all, and the main stream media have become mouth pieces for one side or the other. Makes you wonder if there could ever be another ‘Watergate’.

Ugh. So sad and infuriating, Andrea, that some people will sacrifice anything or anyone for their own wealth and power. Same in the US, of course. And somehow they never are held accountable.

It’s a vicious circle. The more powerful/rich/influential and individual is, the less likely it is that they’ll ever be held to account for anything. But seeing that gives everyone else the idea that corruption is okay so long as you’re rich enough, so let’s get rich by any means possible. And around it goes.
I truly despair of our species sometimes.

My country is busy being looted and burned by thugs and criminals who are being orchestrated, it seems, by high ranking government officials. Reading this post of yours makes me feel quite despairing of the world we live in. Is their no integrity anywhere?

I saw some horrific footage on the tv about what’s happening over there. Heart it mouth as that baby was thrown from the building but /caught/ by an absolute superman below.
To be honest, Robbie, I share your despair. I try to tell myself that this is simply one of those awful low points in history, and that we’re not all this….revolting…but some days I can’t convince myself at all.
Stay safe. -hugs-

This is truly horrifying, Meeka. The idea that water, which we cannot live without, should be a commodity traded on markets turns my stomach. What next, the air we breathe? Here’s another piece that got me going today. It seems they are about to go after the ‘treasures’ at the bottom of the ocean, destroying precious ecosystems on the way. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/06/21/the-deep-sea-is-filled-with-treasure-but-it-comes-at-a-price

Dear god we’re a miserable, selfish, destructive species. 😦 Honestly, if aliens came to visit they’d see us as evil.

This is really frightening.
Nestlé steals water from all around the world. I say steal as they are getting fresh water for pennies and reselling for gobs more.
I will share this everywhere I can think to send.
Thank you for noticing this!!

Gah…I didn’t know about Nestle but it makes sense. These huge corporations are no longer about ‘products’. It’s all about stock and water is just another stock. 😦

Yes water is frighteningly easy to steal.

Water is precious here, and we either waste it or give it away to billionaires.
Hey! Saw on the news that Thailand is bringing in tough new restrictions again. Are you and your neighbours ok?

Not sure about that yet we are self imposing our own quarantine not waiting for an inept government to tell us what they have decided…

I’m so glad. This Delta variant is looking to be potentially disastrous.

Here too. Obviously not as much, but our Federal govt has totally stuffed up both quarantine and vaccinations, both of which are /their/ responsibility/. If not for the courage of [most of] our state Premiers, I don’t know where we’d be.
Fingers crossed both our countries can bring this Delta variant under control. -hugs-
