I’ve posted about jet suits before, but I still get a thrill every time I learn a bit more about them. In the following video, a jet suited marine takes off from a pursuit vessel, boards a gigantic naval vessel, and flies back to the pursuit vessel again. That manoeuvrability is what caught my attention. And the speed. The marine in the jet suit is flying a heck of a lot faster than the boats can power through the water. Love it. 🙂

I saw this on social media a few days ago and was similarly impressed. Then I got to thinking about the actual military applications of this, and I began to hit some snags (and you know how important the snags are ;)).
I’m not sure how much use this would be in a battle situation, not without substantial add-on weight like arms and ammunition. Also, I’m not sure how keen any squaddie would be to go up in that and make him/herself an instant target for every enemy soldier in a foxhole.
Still, baby-steps and all that 😉

High Five my friend! I had exactly the same thought. I couldn’t tell from the video but I assume the jets would make a noise so sneaking up on a battle ship, or anything else, would be hard, even at night.
But as you say, baby steps. It’s so much fun being alive at a time when such major changes are happening to our world. We’re like mountain climbers at the top of a peak, seeing where we’ve come from but also seeing the brand new vista on the other side of the mountain.

Very cool! Reminds me of the kind of thing we dreamed about as kids….like seeing each other in screens and walking around talking into our watches. So much of it has come true — think I’m ready for my jet pack moment!

Now THAT was pretty darn cool! Why, if I had one of those, I could get to the grocery store in 35 seconds instead of the 3 minutes it takes me now, and no more worrying about whether the van will start, or the car has a flat tire! I wonder how much one costs? Does one need a license?
