This is not the post I’d planned, but I’m utterly taken with this music and just had to share. It’s another one of Lucas King’s piano compositions, and it’s called The Silent Place. It also happens to be perfect for a scene I just wrote about Death [Vokhtah 2].
I am the kind of person who always has to know why things are the way they are so my interests range from genetics and biology to politics and what makes people tick.
For fun I play online mmorpgs, read, listen to a music, dance when I get the chance and landscape my rather large block.
Work is writing. When a story I am working on is going well I'm on cloud nine. On bad days I go out and dig big holes...

That’s beautiful. More sad than dark, in my mind. Maybe because I can’t not hear the moonlight sonata “in” this one. They are so similar in the way the are using the composition and the technique. I know the melody isn’t equally similar, but, still, that’s the way it “speaks” to me π
OMG…yes! I noticed the similarity to the Moonlight as well. It’s as if he used the Moonlight as inspiration and then went off on his own. lol
Much as I love The Silent Place, I’ve grown to love The Grinning Man more. Things hinted at in some of the earlier compositions really explode in The Grinning Man.
π Glad I’m not alone ππ
I love your choices in music more often than not (okay, to be honest, you’ve never suggested a piece I didn’t like, but just to be safe in case I forgot such a case π). I also don’t “live with a soundtrack, as some friends of mine describe their tendency to either have or imagine a music in every moment of their daily life, and, maybe, because of this I rarely search for new songs, so you are a very good source of them for me π
Thank you!!! πππ
[…] you can work out for yourselves because now I want to talk about this music! Widds commented in the last post about the bass notes of The Silent Place, and how it made us feel ‘wibbly-wobbly’. π […]
I did think about it when I first published Innerscape. As part of my ‘marketing’ -hollow laughter- I gave away some of the music that had been most important to the story. That was when I discovered that most people don’t like the kind of music that makes my heart sing. They don’t /dislike/ it, but it doesn’t resonate with them so the effect is lost. Now I just post about the music that really grabs me as I write.
Yes, music is certainly a matter of personal taste. It’s not worth trying to convert someone if they don’t share your preferences. Mentions of music have found their way into my works, as you may recall. π

Every since I stumbled across Lucas King I’ve been itching to have the piano tuned so I can sit and play, just a bit.

Great writing music. Yes, play! I always wanted to learn to play the piano. π

lol – the poor piano hasn’t been tuned in years. But I am really really thinking about it. π

I wonder what it is about those bass notes that give us humans the wibbly-wobblys? … probably something to do with the low frequencies I suspect. π

-cough- it’s, um…dark. All I’ll say is that there’s blood and sharp objects.

Have you thought about including a playlist for readers, recommending music for specific scenes?

Yes. It’s one of the many things I really enjoyed. Apart from the murder and mayhem, of course. π
