This is an important video for everyone to watch as Dr John Campbell explains about the adverse reactions recorded for the Pfizer vaccine. He then goes through the first peer reviewed paper published for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
As Australia has aligned itself heavily with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, it’s very reassuring to know that it is both safe and efficacious! Just as a matter of interest, Australians won’t be getting any vaccines until some time in March, 2021. As we have the virus under control [knock on wood], we can afford to wait.
Feels great to get some good news on the virus front for a change. π
cheers

Thanks for the heads-up, I’ll check the video out. I have to say (ahead of watching it) that a few alarm bells sound in my mind because of the pace at which the vaccines have been developed, questions about side effects, etc, can only be answered with time… for which we will have to wait. Hmmn.

Not sure about NZ, but we’re definitely waiting here. I think it’s because we’re not high enough on the list, but for once I’m quite happy to be an ‘also ran’. π
Although the flu vaccine can sometimes cause allergic reactions, the fact that two out of a relatively small sample had a bad reaction to the Pfizer vaccine is cause for concern. I’m no expert but I thought such reactions were in the vicinity of 1: 1,000,000 or thereabouts. Luckily both our countries can afford to ‘wait and see’.

I listened to the whole thing. It seems essential to be informed as the vaccines are rolled out. This was very helpful. What a hopeful time. In the US, we are experiencing our worst infection rates and deaths yet, but there is hope.

Yes, finally, there is hope. Just remember to continue to be careful. Darkest hour and all that. -hugs-

I am glad to know Australia has the virus under control. That is some good news Meeks. I hope we get the Oxford vaccine here too.

If Dr John is right, the Oxford vaccine will be the easiest to administer and the cheapest to buy. Given we have seven? billion people to vaccinate worldwide, cost is going to matter. I know it’s petty of me, but I hate the thought of Big Pharma profiteering off the suffering of so many.

I agree, Meeks. This is an international crisis and big profits should drive this.
