I promise, this post will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen before! Mwahahaha…
– serious face –
One of the things I love about ESO [Elder Scrolls Online] is the powerful, and very flexible housing system. All my gold goes on recipes for housing ‘furniture’. But while I can make a great looking bath tub, complete with steam rising from the water, there is no recipe yet for kitchen sinks, or bathroom sinks for that matter. And don’t get me started on the lack of loos!
Ahem. In an odd twist, the very lack of a kitchen sink has generated more innovation amongst ESO housing enthusiasts than just about anything else I can think of. And I’m obsessed as well. 🙂
The video below [not mine!] shows how to create a couple of kitchen sinks from other ‘things’. When you smoosh these things together, you get some amazing results:
Smile. 🙂

they look like lots of sinks over here!! Especially in The Stable (small local chain of cider based pubs/pizza restaurants) https://stablepizza.com/

Yes, I know! Just had a look and it’s just the sort of place I love to visit…back when we could. I particularly love the fact that they remodelled the old stable instead of pull it down and building something bright and shiny. Definitely my kind of place.

This reminds me of using all sorts of elements to get the right effect when I’m designing images to represent things I’m writing. Doing that is sometimes more fun than the writing, actually. I’m getting ready to publish a collection of 14 stories. I’ve designed a cover image for the collection, and images for most of the stories too. That’s about as close as I get to gaming, i.e., not close at all.

Actually you’re rather close, Audrey. Creating furniture and buildings etc in ESO takes place in a 3D environment but it’s not that different, conceptually, to what you’re doing in 2D.
Are you going to do a cover reveal for the new book? And what do you use for your image manipulation?

Definitely a cover reveal soon! I use Canva, and am quite pleased with some of my creations.

The more the merrier but…are there going to be books attached to them as well? -runs-

Sort of! I’ve made images for all but 2 of the stories in the collection of 14 I’m going to publish soon. I thought about including them inside the book, but that would have swelled the filesize enough that Amazon would have charged a delivery fee for the ebook. And anyway, not all ereaders show images in colour. So I’m going to display them all on my blog in the run-up to release day (which I haven’t decided on yet).

Sounds great, Audrey. Might also be a great promo item. I’m thinking that a print version of just a few of the stories but /with/ the images would be a great giveaway to promote all your work. Like a ‘taster’.
If you kept the total number of pages under…I think it’s 40 for colour printing… it might not be that expensive to print either.
You probably won’t sell the print version, but the sample might be effective in marketing. Of course I’m speaking as someone who really sucks at marketing so…:D

Thanks, Meeka! I’m terrible at marketing, but I’ll keep your suggestions in mind.

That was pretty cool. People can be so creative. Someday I want to redo my bathrooms, and it would be fun to do something different. 🙂 I have to save up for a decade or so. Lol

-grin- there are so many things I need to do, and would love to do, but they all cost a fortune! Well, a small one. I think that’s why I like playing with digital renovations so much. 🙂

I play a silly game on my phone that lets me design a garden. I have waterfalls and ponds, courtyards and beautiful walls and amazing flowers and trees. And it’s huge, of course. It’s inspired me to plant 3 new flowers in my garden – the extent of my budget. Lol.

It’s so basic, Andrea. Now I feel silly for mentioning it. But I’ll bet there are gardening simulation games/programs that are much better and actually give real ideas with plant names, etc. If there isn’t, there should be!

I agree, Diana. Just read a comment from OBT saying she had no access to a garden at the moment & had to enjoy it vicariously through gardening friends online.
We /need/ this kind of outlet, esp. people living in small apartments. I believe VR is going to absolutely explode, goggles and all.
Can you imagine being able to ‘visit’ Machu Pichu or the Great Wall of China or Mount Fuji or…or…
Ahem. There are so many places I would like to see, not just now, but in the years ahead when travelling in person is just too expensive.
-fingers crossed-

I was talking with my grandson about the future of VR (he’s 7). Our imaginations went wild and it’s all possible. I can’t imagine what it will be like in the future. Innerspace?

Hah! Not for a while yet, but VR tours of Petra might be doable in the near future! Then again, my timing has been off so many times since I finished Innerscape that anything is possible. One thing is for sure, the next couple of years will see an explosion of new tech. So glad I won’t have to wait until I’m 90!

Nah, its pandemic-brain. The most notable symptom is that it stretches time, making memory an unreliable tool. I know because I have it too.

Oh, in that case you are doubly welcome. 😀 Anne’s a good mate. I discovered her via her botanical art and am the proud owner of one of her garlics. Drawings that is. 😀
Are you in Melbourne too? If so, courage, we’ll get through this.
