Almost exactly a month ago, I drove in to Warrandyte to pick up some necessary prescriptions from the chemist. A month ago I was the only person wearing a mask.
Today…every. single. person. I. saw. was. wearing. a. MASK!
Thank you, just…thanks π
love

My son bought some plastic gloves. I hadn’t thought of wearing them outside. Great idea.

Please do! This virus can survive on different kinds of surfaces for quite a while. Don’t quote me but I think it’s 3 days on metal and 4 on plastic? Or maybe 2 and 3 days respectively? Anyway, it’s a long time and a Twitter friend was telling me about some woman at the supermarket – picking up and replacing a whole bunch of magazines. She seemed to have no idea that she might be infecting each one. π¦

It is much better than it was but there always seems to be the odd person maskless. I glare but it doesn’t seem to work with my mask on.

lol – I gave a woman a big thumbs up today coz she was wearing both a mask AND rubber gloves. Maybe a thumbs down would work. π

Hi David. I hope so coz the new cases skyrocketed to over 700 today or actually yesterday. I didn’t realise until I logged on to Twitter. Kind of put a downer on the rest of the day but at least we are all trying now. I guess there’s bound to be a lag time.

Yay you! And I’m glad the GO has it covered too. Never really thought about guys with beards but of course they must be covered.
Stay well. π

Yay, Warrandyte! We are seeing an uptick in mask wearing in France as it’s now mandatory in all shops and transit. People really need to be told what to do. Hope the trend continues! π

I honestly think it’s the only way. Once we’re all wearing masks, the risk of infection should drop dramatically. It’s just getting to that point that’s so hard.
How’s the packing going?

I don’t know, I truly don’t know, but the pattern has been that each country repeats the same strategy of denial, again and again, without ever learning the lesson other countries have already learned. It’s as if they believe that /their/ country is somehow ‘immune’.
Collective stupidity?

The thing is we buckle up on planes, in cars, we can’t use our mobile while driving, there are alcohol laws, but many can’r/won’t wear a mask…crazy thinking x Definitely collective stupidity….x

with Alicia and it is what happens here and there is no let up although we ar now 0 days virus free the only people who have it are those we are letting in…Hence 14-days compulsory quarantine for everyone who enters here…Its the only way π

We’ve had the 14 day compulsory quarantine but the security guards messed up, big time. Then reopenings happened and bam. Hopefully things will be brought under control again.

If everyone wore them, ALL the time, we’d probably be virus-free in three weeks – the pool of local cases would be depleted – if no new people were allowed in.
It still requires closed borders between free and virus-laden regions, but a country could get going internally.
And if EVERYONE coming in were locked in a proper quarantine for 2-3 weeks – THEY wouldn’t bring it in. Same requirements.
Right now we’re just playing hopscotch with the infection.

Yeah, it seems so logical, and yet it’s not happening, or it’s happening after the horse has bolted. I understand that globalisation meant we didn’t have enough masks [or other medical equipment], I understand we don’t produce enough/any of our own, I understand that the proper PPE has to be saved for medical people but…if they’d only levelled with us from the beginning we would have made our own. Not as good but still so much better than nothing. Instead they said we didn’t need it. -pulls hair out in chunks-

A few governments have done what’s necessary – but the price of it is continual vigilance – hard to maintain.
Those who’ve mismanaged things from the very beginning have no accountability to their citizens beyond the usual: the next election. Which you can bet they are trying to avoid. I almost said ‘like the plague.’ π

Hah! I know I’m being truly horrible here but I kind of wish they couldn’t avoid /this/ plague. Some Karmic justice would be nice.

That’s why I like the concept of ‘natural consequences’ – they can’t be avoided: choose the behavior, choose the consequence.
