I’m reblogging this brutally honest description of what’s involved when someone is put on a ventilator because the hard truths have to be spoken, again and again and again until the complacency stops.

Yeah, I know. It’s a bit like preaching to the choir, but I keep thinking that if just one person takes notice and tells one more person… -sigh- I live in hope.

Everyone who refuses, for no good reason, to wear a mask needs to read that and sign something legal to prove that they’ve read it and have it stapled to their bloody foreheads.

That is so confronting, Meeks. I knew it was more than an oxygen mask, but I didn’t know about the severity of the procedure, including sedatives and the need to paralyse the patient.
The message from the nurse is stark STAY HOME; WEAR A MASK! couldn’t be simpler.

Yes. I knew it was bad too but I had no idea, no idea at all. I’m sure a lot of us have thought, ‘oh well, if the worst happens they’ll just put me onto a ventilator’… -shudder-

I was really moved today when I heard of the ICU numbers and those poor souls who had died, because, unfortunately, I was more able to imagine what trauma they must have gone through. I also feel for the medical staff who know that this is the only intervention they can give.

Yes, the nightly news is starting to feel like a horror show. I know the deaths will continue for some time, even if the infections were to stop immediately, but a part of me keeps thinking…this is Melbourne, how can this be happening /here/?
Stay well and stay safe! -hugs-
