Some great reviews by Audrey Driscoll, Vokhtah included, but also an excellent review of The Old Woman and the Mad Horse. It’s written by an Aussie buddy of mine, Cage Dunn, and I can attest to the fact that it’s a great read.
I haven’t read the other two books, but my TBR pile is starting to look rather thin so…:) Oh! And while you’re looking at all these books, check out Audrey ‘s Herbert West quartet. One word: awesome. 🙂
Cheers

Here are my thoughts on four more books I read and greatly enjoyed in the first six months of 2020.
First, books by writers from Australia, which seems to be a beehive of creativity in the 21st century.

The Old Woman & the Mad Horse – Case File for: The Big Three Mining Investigation by Cage Dunn and Rose Brimson
The tension starts on the first page and doesn’t let up until nearly the end. Hella Solaris is an investigator for a shadowy organization opposing a mega-corporation’s efforts to gain technological domination of the earth’s population. Her intent to step back from active service in a small rural community is thwarted, first by the presence of an angry horse, and then by a criminal element who wants to drive her away, and finally, by discoveries and developments that entangle the personal with the professional.
This is a thriller of sorts…

That’s wonderful, congrats! I haven’t read Vokhtah–hard sci fi can be challenging for me–but you know I loved Innerscape and The Vintage Egg story collection. You’re a beautiful writer.

-hugs- Do not read Vokhtah. And no, that’s not some wacky reverse psychology thing. I appreciate that my friends want to support my work. That’s wonderful. But I’d be the first to admit that Vokhtah is…difficult. I guess it’s aimed at readers who are as into ‘heavy’ scifi as I am. I would truly hate the thought of you forcing yourself to read it. That would feel awful. So…with complete honestly, please don’t. -massive hugs-

I would love you to read it, Carol, but…it really is a challenging read and unless you like scifi and aliens, you may not like it. That said, I will not be at all offended if you don’t. There. Warning given. 🙂

Okay but…please. If you start and have that awful sinking feeling of ‘what have I done?’…please stop. As I just said to Carrie, I’ll feel awful if my friends force themselves to read just because they’re my friends. I value you guys too much for that. -hugs-

Bless you… But know this I buy books because I want to read them and some books are not my favourite genre so I don’t read them I have on occassions and when it is not your genre it is more difficult to review.. I recently read a book after 3 tries but once I had reread some of it I got into the book and really enjoyed it… was just a little hard going at the beginning but I was pleased I persisted x…. If you read my book order I made last week you would probably wonder why at one or two… X

Phew. :p I still love print books too but my eyesight is getting to the point that I find them hard to read, esp. the ones with very small print. Being able to adjust the font size is such a boon. -hugs-
