I needed some cheering up and found this amazing image on jigsawplanet.com:

The caption read only ‘Turkey’ so I didn’t like my chances of learning more. Wrong. This place is famous with a capital ‘F’ and, as you’ve probably gathered, it’s called Pamukkale.
I’m not doing free advertising for this tourist company, just love their photos, particularly the sunset one:

Now I’m off to bed to dream of flying to Pamukkale in my Lear jet…:)
Night, night,
Meeks

been there ๐
Super stinky, with the Sulphur, and when I went (1993, i think) I don’t remember it being anywhere near so pretty, sadly. They’ve done a bit of tidying up, which is nice to know!

You are gold! Thank you for that description, esp. the one about the smell. Sulphur is like rotten egg, right?
When I see images like this, that are so alien looking, I automatically file them away for world building at a later date. But knowing how something smells is almost more important than knowing how it looks.
I hereby dub thee, Friend of Vokhtah!

lol, yes, Sulphur is like the most rotten egg, crossed with the foulest of toilet stenches. Lucky me; it’s what I use to create patination on my silver!!

-giggles- I have to say I’m not quite so keen on visiting Pamukkale any more. ๐

It looks much nicer than when I went. At that point there was a lot of litter and people, and just generally rather unappealing. My boyfriend went in, but I refused to as it looked so very unsanitary !!!

It is. These pictures are proof that we are living on the greatest treasure imaginable, and half the time we don’t know it.
