Apologies in advance but the timezone differences always trip me up. I hope I’m still in time to point you towards Sue Vincent’s blog where Ani [the 2nd cutest dog in the world] is hosting a different Christmas related story each day. Hence the ‘Advent’ theme. π
Today, it’s my turn and Ani very kindly agreed to host my sci-fi short story – The Christmas Roast. You can find it here:
Aniβs Advent Calendar 2018! Just chilling with a story from A. C. Flory
Huge hugs to both Sue and Ani. I’ve enjoyed the Advent stories others have told and I hope everyone enjoys mine!

-hugs- Thanks, Anne. Short stories aren’t really my forte but…the Roast is kind of special. It came about because of something that happened to me when I visited my Grandmother in Hungary, back in 1974. Gran had a tiny apartment in the heart of Budapest – like the fore-runner of today’s tiny house movement. So tiny that we both slept in the ‘lounge room’ on convertible beds.
Can you picture it?
Well, Gran wanted to have a huge Christmas do to celebrate seeing her granddaughter [me] again after so many years. But she didn’t have a fridge. So she bought live chickens and kept them in the loo. I am not making this up.
I have never been very fond of chickens but after a week of close contact….I couldn’t eat xmas lunch. π¦
