I don’t often post about Donald J Trump, but I just have to reblog this brilliant article by Ends and Beginnings because the perspective is so new, and chilling.
The perspective comes from a reporter by the name of Julia Davis who reports almost exclusively about Russia. The chill comes from what the Russian media says about Trump.
I really, really recommend you read the entire article:

Interesting post, Andrea. For those of us who are living this nightmare up close and personal, it isn’t surprising. It’s fascinating to watch Trump and his conspirators these days. They’re getting very nervous. The Republicans aren’t taking a stand because they’re afraid of the base – but they aren’t going to stop the investigation either. They got their tax cuts for the rich so when Mueller comes out with his indictments, they’re going to turn on Trump (all together now), claiming that they are patriots and have sworn oaths to uphold the constitution. The base is going to go crazy, but I’m hopeful that the US will survive it. A lot will ride on what happens in November.

Gawd…and that’s a ‘best case’ scenario? -sigh- Good luck.

His outrages are a weekly thing over here. The sheer quantity has made it so people are no longer shocked and have become complacent. The Republican Party helped create him and is doing nothing. The best-case scenario is if the Senate and House swing Democratic in November, and impeachment proceedings are then undertaken. But you can bet on one thing: no matter what, he will go into full Trump “fake news” mode, our media will shine their light on him because he’s money in their bank, and his fawning supporters will continue to argue the earth is flat.

Impeachment would be good in one way but wouldn’t that just open the door for Pence? He might not be outrageous, but from what little I’ve read, he’s more cunning.

I’ve thought the same thing, Meeka. Pence is a hardened far-right Republican, and rabidly anti-gay. While not as reckless, bloviating, and offensive as Trump, I’m not sure he’s cunning. My impression is that he’s more like a faceless automaton. Wind him up, and he behaves like the model Republican.
My only fear about a Trump impeachment would be Americans would then let their guard down and elect Pence in 2020. But things are so bad here, if Trump COULD be impeached, it would be such a joyous occasion. For that to happen, both the Senate and House have to swing Democrat in November, and that’s not guaranteed, especially the House, which is loaded with “red-state” (Republican) representatives. If it DOES happen, then Dems need to be bold, and have solid evidence of “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Not too worried about the latter.

Yeah, no easy solutions but I agree, a clean sweep in November would be great for morale. I just wish the Democrats would put aside any internal squabbles and push a likable candidate forward as someone most of America could vote for in the next presidential election. Need positives now.

Exactly. Our Democratic Party isn’t faultless. Bernie Sanders was a likable Primary candidate who would have trounced Trump in the General Election. More Hillary supporters would have shifted to him than vice-versa. The party should have chosen Sanders. But that’s life. One big problem, as I see it, is America loves celebrity, and I see a trend to lean toward the “flash” candidate rather than the one best-qualified to lead the free world. With Obama, we got both. With Trump…

Yeah. I remember how astonished I was when Reagan was elected. I guess he set a precedent. Maybe Oprah should stand after all.

Just when you think you have heard it all from Trump, something else comes along to horrify.

I know. And the truly scary thing is that we’re all becoming conditioned to expecting it. Normalised horror stops being shocking after a while. đŸ˜¦

What a legacy indeed. He doesn’t have he honesty to confirm he condoned the meetings with Russians during the elections. Can’t admit his errors over global warming and still panders to the rich and now it seems his evangelist friends. The man is probably America’s biggest disaster.
