Not a tech post in sight this week, although be warned, I’ll be starting a new series with some tech in it soon. For now there are just two posts:
- The Gingerbread House of my Dreams, and
- A Frog at the Window
You can find both posts on the homepage of Tikh Tokh:

Back home in Warrandyte, there’s rain forecast! Keep your fingers crossed please. 🙂
cheers

I am the kind of person who always has to know why things are the way they are so my interests range from genetics and biology to politics and what makes people tick.
For fun I play online mmorpgs, read, listen to a music, dance when I get the chance and landscape my rather large block.
Work is writing. When a story I am working on is going well I'm on cloud nine. On bad days I go out and dig big holes...

loved Sir Frog. bet he was hoping for invertebrates in those pots. Hadn’t realised you have alpacas.

Actually I think he was after moths! He came back the next night and climbed the window glass. Not sure if he caught anything but he was definitely after the moths that were drawn to the light from inside the kitchen. 🙂

No moths? How is that possible? And why is it happening??

i think it’s a combination of wrong weather (longer, wetter winters, random frosts at caterpillar time) loss of habitat and obsessive pesticide use. Makes me sad. We try to encourage caterpillars on lots of plants at the allotment by only netting some plants, and using birdproof over some to protect the caterpillars. all we managed last year was one hawk-moth and lots of cinnamon moths (I think)

That’s scary. I’ve read about bees being in trouble in the Northern hemisphere but I had no idea that other insects were in danger too. I’m really sorry to hear about the moths. Humans have a lot to answer for.

to be honest, I’m much more concerned with the insects and invertebrates.

You’re right. In terms of our survival, I’m worried about how we’ll eat once the little critters aren’t around to pollinate our food crops. But…I feel sick thinking that such an iconic species is actually going to die out, right before my eyes, so to speak. 😦

It did! It did. 😀 We’ve had a day and a half of rain now and I feel as if all the tension of this long, drawn out fire season has slipped from my shoulders. Haven’t been this relaxed in months!

I can only imagine. I don’t live in a part of the world that deals much with that, but after the California wildfires, it’s very much on people’s minds.

Yes, I winced every time the California bushfire footage was shown on the TV here. 😦

-giggles- Cross your toes as well please. We had a couple of drops, literally, and then it changed its mind.
