My scrunched aluminium photos didn’t work terrible well, but Dawn sent me some pics of real silver:
Going to have a play with them tomorrow. Fingers crossed. π

I was searching online for photos of silver foil to use as a texture in the Innerscape cover when I had a light bulb moment – why pay for someone else’s graphic when I have metres of aluminium foil in the draw?
This is a screenshot of the five photos I took in the kitchen:
I lightly crushed the foil before positioning it in various places to achieve different light effects and angles. I’m still a lousy photographer, but I hope these pics allow me to create a true metallic effect for the ‘wires’ on the circuit board. And the best part is, if it turns out to be an absymal failure, it won’t have cost me anything but time. π
cheers

I had one more idea for the tinfoil idea. Place rods, noodles, toothpicks, anything thick enough and the length you want will work, under the tinfoil. Then press down on the rest of the tinfoil leaving what looks like solder lines on a circuit board. I was thinking a pencil would work to give you good lines. Hugs

Oh and thank you. Most people have their own ideas and may not like having someone else horn in. Let me know what you decided to do. I bet it will be grand. Hugs

Another thought. Take an old computer card, any would do but old graphics cards would be great I think. Just do a picture of the back of them. Hugs

I’ve actually got a stylised pic, of sorts, just having trouble getting what I see in my head down on ‘paper’. π

Are you looking for a wire effect? Have you tried taking spaghetti noodles, toss them on a copper or green surface ( or what ever background you like ) see if that looks good. If it does you can get a can of silver spray paint and spray them before taking the final pictures. You may have better ideas. Hugs

If you are using a built-in flash, try to aim the camera head-on and have the light source on the sides, like a table lamp. Or bounce the light on the ceiling.

lmao – flash? what’s that? I used my phone and I don’t think it flashed. I’m a disgrace to photographers everywhere. π¦

Avoid flash, and also reflection by diffusing the light if at all possible. See the different tints on those pics I sent you? Reflection from different slate, or the pink is when I’ve been too lazy to remove my phone case!

I learned how much the lighting can change colour this evening. Things did not turn out as I’d planned but…this could be a fortuitous accident. I’ll show you tomorrow. π

Ooo. Excited. More excited than the delay in replying suggests-wp is no longer notifying me of comments etc – think it might be coz I had to clean all my cache, dammit!

Ugh. Periodically I get that as well. No idea what causes it but you could be right about the cache. Post coming up soon. π

have you tried a closer shot? I’ve got a clip on macro lens (cost me a couple of pounds on Ebay) for my phone that I use for my extreme close ups. It’s really interesting the difference you can get using one. Plus there’s the whole reflection thing going one with anything silver in colour. I’ll tweet you an example.

I got your pics and they’re wonderful – thank you. Unfortunately I have absolutely no feel for cameras at all so everything you and George suggested feels like particle physics to me.

Ha! Of course, you could make it yourself. How come we don’t think of that? Great variations with the lighting too. Good luck with the cover. π

Thanks. Unfortunately, the finished effect didn’t work as hoped so it’s back to the drawing board. I think I’m just trying to be way too smart for my own good.
