As a pantster, I rarely outline, but as I’ve mentioned in the past, StoryBox has changed the way I write. Instead of writing every story as a long, linear progression, as I used to do in Word, I now write in chapters and scenes. What this means is that when I get a flash of inspiration, I can bung it in a new chapter without worrying about all the bits in between that still have to be written.
In the case of the Epilogue, I still have about 3 critical chapters to write before the story actually reaches ‘the end’, but the ideas I had this morning were too good to just note down for future reference. Dot points really don’t allow the nuanced feelings of a scene to come through, so I thought ‘why not’ and went for it.
Whether this out-of-sequence writing turns out to be useful in the end, I don’t know, but I have a funny feeling the 1600+ words I wrote today will not end up on the cutting room floor. 🙂

Sounds like a perfect way for a pantser to keep organized and a plotter to keep energized. I think I’m gonna like using writing software, once I learn how to use it MY way instead of being intimidated by it. 🙂

I’m happy dancing with you… and looking forward to reading. It makes perfect sense to me to wrire the ending and work toward it… sort of like creative visualisation, and manisfesting 💡

Perfect pantster style. 😉 This is a happy dance making method for sure. I’ve worked this way many times. Sometimes with success-other times not so much, but always progress. That is what’s important.

I like it! I’m struggling with the end of my current novel, so this has given me inspiration to write the final chapter first, since I know how it’s going to go. Usually, if I have a scene I really want to write I’ll dangle it like a carrot at the end of a stick to make me stay on task. Maybe I should start doing things this ^ way. Might jump start the ol’ writing engine 🙂 It certainly can’t hurt!

Yes! That’s been my way of doing things as well, but the dream run yesterday has only fueled my energies for today. 500+ words before I head off to work…I’m pretty happy. 🙂
