The Offspring and I just finished watching the scoring for Eurovision 2016, and we’re both knackered! So exciting but also incredibly nerve wracking.
Ukraine won at the very end, but out very own Dami Im led for most of the judging, and we couldn’t be more proud. Congratulations Ukraine and THANK YOU, Dami. 🙂
cheers
Meeks
p.s. This is the people’s favourite – You’re the Only One [Russia]:
I am the kind of person who always has to know why things are the way they are so my interests range from genetics and biology to politics and what makes people tick.
For fun I play online mmorpgs, read, listen to a music, dance when I get the chance and landscape my rather large block.
Work is writing. When a story I am working on is going well I'm on cloud nine. On bad days I go out and dig big holes...

Apologies Meeks, I’m currently being rather slow-witted with a bad dose of laryngitis. I take it you were being ironic when you said it was “so exciting but also incredibly nerve wracking”?
-giggles- No! I wasn’t. It was fun watching the whole thing – music as spectacle – and the teasing out of who won, and by what margin, blah blah was exciting.
I suspect you’ll never respect me again but….we loved it. 😀
Oh and p.s.! The voting was in two parts – by judges in each country, and by the general public. Russia did /not/ win because so many countries used the judging to make a point about Putin and Russian aggression in general. That was the ‘slight bias’ I was talking about.
The view of Eurovision from far, far away is a bit blurry. My Dutch friends tell me all about it and the devotion it inspires. And yet, most of my fellow Americans wonder… what’s that? Um… I think we’re missing out on something interesting.
To be honest, we [as in The Offspring and I] have only become interested in Eurovision since Australian performers began appearing there. But the Australian connection goes all the way back to ABBA. We /loved/ ABBA.
I guess Eurovision is this kitch, over-the-top, /fun/ competition that doesn’t take itself too seriously. 🙂

Another public snub to Putin’s expansionism?
