I just saw this on TV and almost fell over as I honestly thought this technology would not be available for decades yet.
This technology offers real hope for thousands of paraplegics all around the world. Go the Naked Ape! For all our faults, we produce some wonderful, dedicated, compassionate human beings as well.
I am the kind of person who always has to know why things are the way they are so my interests range from genetics and biology to politics and what makes people tick.
For fun I play online mmorpgs, read, listen to a music, dance when I get the chance and landscape my rather large block.
Work is writing. When a story I am working on is going well I'm on cloud nine. On bad days I go out and dig big holes...

This is so cool! Back in the dark ages (when I was in college) I lived on the floor of the door with the disabled students. I got to know quite a few people in wheelchairs due to spinal injuries. I can’t imagine how different their lives would be with this sort of technology. In addition to all the obvious obstacles, they were vulnerable to infections that might lead quickly to pneumonia and even death. The act of being up and walking is key to keeping this sort of complication at bay. WOW!
Yes, I thought of him too. He was right about the technology, just wrong about the timing. This will give hope to many in the future though. Just hope it doesn’t take too long to make the tech commercial.
-blush- yes, I love being proved wrong in situations such as these. Sadly it also highlights how impossible any kind of realistic forecasting can be. Ah well. 🙂

Wow indeed. I had no idea physical exercise was linked to such positive outcomes. This is definitely something I’m going to keep an eye on.

Isn’t it fantastic?! I thought of Chris Reeves and wished he could have lived long enough for this.
