One of the ladies I help teach brought in a chocolate cake today, and it was so moist and delicious we all asked for the recipe. I’m going to try it out on the weekend but I thought you guys might like to get the recipeΒ now.
EXPRESS VEGAN CHOCLATE CAKE
1 1/2 cup self raising flour (do not sift)
1/3 cup baking cocoa powder
1 cup raw sugar
1/2 teasp salt
Mix the above
Make a well, add
1 teasp vanilla essence
1 tabsp vinegar
1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil
Then gradually add a cup of water and mix gently till all is mixed.
Do NOT over mix.
Bake in a preheated oven 190 degrees celsius for 1/2 hour.
Do NOT over bake to maintain its moistness.
Nanki sprinkled icing sugar over the top and we had it for morning tea today. I kid you not, it was wonderful.
cheers

Youngest sister is a vegan so I’ll be using this one for the next family thing, thanks! Without the yummy stuff in life I can’t see the point of continued existence, but good on them if they can…. π

I always thought your taste buds must change after a while but I’m starting to think each type of cooking has its own yummies. π

It might, but while I’m here eating fluffy, creamy, scrambled eggs there is no way I’ll be turned to the dark side. π
Brother in Law is a pastry chef and for a special event some time ago he made the chocolatiest chocolate cake ever. It had the vegan section unimpressed until he announced it was made especially for them. He was nearly kidnapped and enslaved in their kitchens. I don’t think their taste buds change, I think they just try to forget how good things taste. Mmmmmm…..bacon. π

lmao – evil woman, now you’re making me want bacon and eggs for dinner! Or maybe a toasted bacon and egg sandwich…-drool-
I’m too much of a carnivore to give up meat either, but there are some non-meat dishes that I actually like at least as much as some meat ones.
I’ve decided I’ll eat anything so long as it’s not moving. π

Yum, also very handy when the fridge is empty for whipping up something delicious and warm and chocolaty for therapeutic purposes…

Hmm, interesting… Although I think the recipe could do with some more chocolate, a little additional chocolate, and possibly a dash of extra chocolate π

Butterless, eggless, I am so grateful it wasn’t chocolateless too. I’m still glad I’m not a vegan.

lol – don’t wait for a Vegan! I can hardly wait to give it a try as this is going to be a whole different direction of cooking for me. I honestly didn’t think it was /possible/ to bake a cake without at least eggs! lol
