In a moment of madness, the good people of Indies Unlimited decided to invite me to contribute to the site on a regular basis. So I am now on my best behaviour. No more dancing naked in the streets or… Oh wait, I can’t do that anyway… much too cold.
Anyway, I will be contributing to IU once a month from now on, and I’ve been told I’m allowed to be funny. This is both liberating and terrifying. I do have a sense of humour, but as David Prosser will tell you, it’s more snark and snigger than hold-your-sides funny. Plus it’s Aussie humour, so I may have to tone down the teasing a bit in case readers take me seriously. But all in all I’m feeling fairly confident they won’t throw me out straight away.
Being an eager beaver, and terrified I’d forget if I waited till the end of the month, I have already submitted my first article. I will, of course, let you know when it goes live. [Hah… as if I’m likely to forget to do that].
In the meantime, if you get the chance, come on over and say hello on the announcement post. They may not make me eat the gruel if they see I have backup. Don’t ask…
cheers

Thanks Little. And yes it is as cold as southeastern Australia gets. Our winters would probably feel warm to people living in the northern hemisphere but they’re ‘chilly’ to us. lol

Im pretty certain you will do well in this new endeavor. No reason to stop the public nudity though Im certain your doing more good than harm. As an American sorta, I love the Aussie sense of humor. It’s just difficult to splice out the words !!!!

lmao – I just knew that throw away line would get me into trouble! Trust me, I go fully clothed at all times as an act of kindness to dogs and small children. Plus I wasn’t kidding when I said it was cold. Nothing like what you guys get but cold by our standards. 🙂

Congratulations. 🙂 As for the humour…. Well, I’ve been accused of having Brit Humour. Which supposedly makes people scratch their heads. So, I wouldn’t worry about not being funny. Can’t be worse than belly-laughing at a sketch about a dead parrot and singing songs about dead philosophers, can you? 🙂

LMAO! I’ve never seen this one. Been a huge Monty Python fan from the beginning but I swear I never knew they could do such a decent aussie accent. 😀

You’ll do great. I was thrilled to see your announcement on IU yesterday. Congrats again. It’s a great community blog and a great group of people. I look forward to your post there. And being a month ahead might not be a bad idea. On a community blog I help run but don’t participate on I’m trying to get them to turn their work in a month ahead so unexpected emergencies don’t leave us high and dry.

lol – funny you should say that about getting work in ahead of time. I was so fired up I wrote the article yesterday and sent it off to Kat straight away. It’s a good feeling to know I don’t have it hanging over my head, and don’t have to worry about forgetting, or being late, or just coming up a blank!

-grin- Actually I suspect I’m just a teeny cog in Stephen Hise’s plan for world domination! He’s affectionately known as the Evil Mastermind on IU. But hey, I’m not complaining!

Don’t tell them to ask me or your reputation will go straight downhill. I only have to mention how you’ve cut me off at the knees every week for years now to have them sobbing in their gruel. Mr. Hise, what have you unleashed on the world?

You’re not wrong. I am really not looking forward to taking the dog out for her night time pee walk. It’s just once around the fish pond but still.

Hee hee, I have one of those extendable leads for the late night wee run, I just stand on the back verandah and Jack zooms off into the grass and goes about it, then she can’t get back into the warm quickly enough!
(If I let her out without the lead she goes on patrol and I wake up the whole neighbourhood calling her back while she barks at imaginary enemies!)

Gah! Mogi does that too. She is fixated on a possum that visits every night. She’d sit under that tree barking until dawn if she had her way.
I don’t mind the pee walks most nights as the cats come too. I suspect I’m getting a rep. for eccentricity in the area. Old Lady with a torch and a gaggle of pets saying goodnight to her roses!
