I was chatting with Bluey [from Bluebird Blvd] recently and the conversation turned to fridge doors and what we put on them – you know, fridge magnets, shopping lists, emergency numbers etc. We discovered that we both use the fridge door as an aid to memory so we thought it might be fun to swap pictures of what’s on our fridge door.
And that lead to the idea of having a ‘fridge pic blog carnival’ [Bluey’s idea] where people could post a picture of their fridge door, with maybe an explanation of what that door says about them. The fun part would be in finding out what other people think our fridge doors say about us 😀
So what does your fridge door say about you? Come join the fun and let’s give Pinterest some competition!
The first pic is a not so great picture of my fridge. The second is an even worse one of what’s on my fridge. This picture shows a part of my step-by-step bushfire plan and I think it screams ‘Paranoid Wench!’ … but I’m not taking it down because in six months time summer will be back again. 😉

And congratulations on having the poem printed in a major newspaper!

it’s intewresting what your fridge blog brings up because though there are poems on fridges — indeed I had one published in the SMH called ‘The Ice Age’ — there are NO poems that I’m aware of on fridge magnets and yet as the comments on this blog show it’s a topic ripe for the picking. In fact, if I can find it I’ll post it

what a wonderful concept. I don’t have a camera but hang on for a sec and I’ll just dash out to the kitchen to have a look. Well, there are photos of the grandkids, emergency numbers and contact details for a few slow-food outlets

Oh I love that! I put stuff on the fridge so it’s always in front of my eyes as I come and go all day. Having photos of your grandkids on the fridge means those little faces are always beaming back at you. I like your fridge door very much 🙂

I took a photo of mine and now I’m determined to clean it up. Although I did find a business card from a cafe in Rome. I think it’s the one with the back cherry gelato. Not that I have plans to go to Rome in the near future….

Oh no don’t clean! This is turning into a wonderful, cathartic experience that’s allowing me to love my fridge, warts and all. Besides, you never know when fate will send you back for that black cherry gelato. It sounds so delicious I’m drooling just thinking about it.

I checked out my fridge straight away and all I found was ‘Wash Me’ written in the dust on the door. The worrying thing was it was written in Ogham.

I don’t know how I managed to post a link twice, but please forgive me! And feel free to remove one of those links! Dag!
If I still lived in Los Angeles, or any area where there are seasonal brushfires, frequent flooding, tornados, and so on, I would also leave up a list of what to do in case of an emergency year round. Seriously. In fact, I would have copies of this list posted in cabinets all over the house!
Your fridge makes perfect sense to me, Meeks! I’m so glad we decided to do this! I hope more of y’all will join us in this refrigerator blog tour carnival hoop-la!

-giggles- after the pristine state of your fridge I am /never/ going to take a pic of the inside of mine! The food’s all fresh though and I think we could have a cooking fest one of these days 😀

I’d always had fridge envy of those people who owned fancy silvery refrigerators with ice makers in the doors. A couple of years ago my old fridge died. I found a bargain silver fridge at a discount electrical shop. It had a few dents but so what? I got it home and found out to my horror, that magnets don’t stick to it! So now I have this bare, sterile-looking refrigerator and have had to learn to use a diary. It probably serves me right!

OMG! Jennifer that’s awful
I can only imagine how hard that must be. I’d be lost without my nice metal fridge and all those handy magnets. I do however envy the ice-maker!

Your fridge is so neat! Mine is lost beneath school canteen menus, sports day notices that I should have already attended to, novelty magnets and faded receipts. What would we do without that big white noticeboard. 🙂
One of the first posts I ever did was called fridge worship and was about how much we love this common household god!
